Top cities

TokyoCapital

Best transit, networking & nightlife, but highest CoL.

OsakaPopular

Street-food capital; cheaper & more laid-back than Tokyo, still big-city.

KyotoPopular

Traditional cultural heart; temples, slower pace; sites increasingly overtouristed.

FukuokaHidden Gem

Affordable mid-size coastal city, startup scene, famous ramen.

HiroshimaPopular

Peace Park city; walkable, Shinkansen-connected, day-trip to Miyajima, solid coworking.

SendaiHidden Gem

Tohoku's biggest city; leafy boulevards, real infrastructure, few tourists or nomads.

Climate

Temperate with four distinct seasons; hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters. June rainy season and late-summer typhoons.

Transit

Japan operates one of the world's finest public transit systems. Dense, punctual urban rail and subway networks serve Tokyo, Osaka and every major metro, while the Shinkansen high-speed rail links cities nationwide with exceptional reliability. IC cards (Suica/Pasmo) make travel seamless and car ownership is unnecessary in cities.

Desktop widget will re-size to mobile width automatically. Choose Desktop for most main-content blog embeds.

A compact card, sized for a sidebar or narrow column.

1. Paste this where you want the widget to appear

<iframe src="https://nomadbearings.com/embed/japan/dark/" style="width:100%;max-width:420px;height:820px;border:0" title="Japan at a glance — NomadBearings"></iframe>

This is raw HTML, not plain text — it needs an HTML-capable block. In WordPress's block editor, use a Custom HTML block (or a Code block).

2. Paste this once per page (anywhere — even with multiple widgets embedded)

<script src="https://nomadbearings.com/embed-parent-resize.js"></script>

Same as above — this needs a Custom HTML/Code block too, not a paragraph block.

Height is automatic — the widget tells the page how tall it is and the second snippet resizes the iframe to fit. Don't hardcode a fixed height yourself; the height in the first snippet is just a sane starting value before the resize script takes over.

The NomadBearings credit and "View Japan Profile" link at the bottom of the widget are a required part of it, not a placeholder — please don't remove or hide them.
